Doncaster crime round-up, May 2: Sat navs stolen in car raids

The following crimes were reported to police on May 1 and May 2. Anyone with information call South Yorkshire Police on 101.

Hatfield: A sat nav and a tablet computer were stolen from an unlocked car on Homestead Garth between 6.30pm on Wednesday and 7.20am on Thursday morning. The Ford Focus car had not been locked.

Mexborough: Thieves smashed a car window to get inside and steal a sat nav from a car on Lower Dolcliffe Road. The break-in was between 7pm on Wednesday and 8am on Thursday.

Intake: A shed was broken into on Shaftesbury Avenue between 7pm on Wednesday and 8am Thursday. The padlock was prised off the door, but nothing was stolen.

Balby: Police believe would-be thieves were scared off by a barking dog when they tried to break into a shed on Wellington Road, at 11.30pm on Thursday. The householder went outside after hearing the dog and noticed someone had tried to force the shed door.

Cantley: A mountain bike valued around £200 was stolen from outside the One Stop store on Everingham Road, Cantley, between 7pm and 7.30pm on Monday. The bike had been left unlocked outside the shop by its owner.

Cantley: A handbag and bank cards were stolen from a car on Castell Crescent, Cantley, between Tuesday at 5.30pm and 7.30am on Wednesday. The vehicle had not been locked, say police.

Scawsby: Two men were spotted running away from a Vauxhall Caddy van at 1.30am on Monday morning on Richmond Road, and and thought to have tried to steal the spare wheel from the van. They were seen trying to break into the van, before running off to drive away in a dark Ford Transit. Police say it was too dark for the witnesses to get detailed descriptions of the men.

Thorne: Raiders stole a two way radio from a boat after breaking into Thorne Boat Services on South Parade. The incident was between 5.30pm Tuesday and 10am on Wednesday.

Hatfield: Two white males drove off without paying after filling up with £112 worth of petrol at the service station on junction five of the M18 on Thursday. They were in a black Ford Mondeo.

Hatfield: Thieves tried to break into a shed on Homestead Garth, between Wednesday 6pm and Thursday at 9am. They damaged the door but did not get inside.
