Don’t lose your chance to vote

TWO thousand people who have not yet registered to vote in Barnsley are being urged to ensure they put their names on the electoral roll.

Barnsley Council says people have until Wednesday, April 18, to register – or find themselves unable to participate in this year’s council elections.

The number of Barnsley people now on the Electoral Register stands at about 180,000, or 99 per cent of the adult population.

Coun Jim Andrews, Barnsley Council deputy leader, said; “We want to get as close as possible to 100 per cent.

“Everyone who has not yet registered, who has moved house or has just moved into the borough, should contact us so that they can vote in May.”

n Call the council’s elections helpline on 01226 773070.
