A CYCLIST suffered a fractured cheekbone in a collision with a car in Sheffield.

The 20-year-old, who was giving a ride to a 17-year-old youth, is believed to have failed to stop at the junction of Sicey Avenue and Nethershire Lane, Shiregreen.

Police said the cyclists crashed into a black Volkswagen Golf Match, driven by a 51-year-old man from Sheffield, travelling along Nethershire Lane.

The man riding the bike was taken to Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital, with a fractured cheekbone while his passenger escaped with cuts and bruises.

The Golf driver was unhurt in the collision, which happened on Wednesday, at 7pm.

n Witnesses or anyone who saw the bike or car beforehand is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
