Hundreds of pounds worth of spare wheels were stolen in Doncaster in a one night crimewave.

Six wheels were taken from vehicles from the back of vans and cars across the borough in raids which police believe to be linked.

The reported thefts saw wheels taken from:

*A Volkswagen Camper van on Deacon Close, Rossington;

*A Mercedes Sprinter on Passfields Road, Rossington;

*A Volkswagen Caddy on Elmfield Road, Rossington;

*A Nissan Navaraon Great North Road, Woodlands;

*A Ford Transit on Meadowcroft, Edenthorpe, at 3am on Wednesday;

*A Volkswagen Caddy on Southfield Road, Thorne.

Police are appealing for information.

Supt Eddie Murphy said: “I think for all those to have happened on one night is too much of a coincidence, so I suspect they are linked.

“There have been a number of these sorts of offences, and there must be an outlet for the wheels. Someone must be thinking they are getting wheels at a cheap price. Someone must have information - perhaps they may have seen a lot of wheels being stored somewhere - and we would urge them to get in touch.”
