Crews fight fire at firm

Under control: Firefighters in action at blaze at recycling yard on Tank Row, Stairfoot, Barnsley.

FIREFIGHTERS managed to save a South Yorkshire business from going up in flames after responding to a call for help.

Crews were alerted to the incident on Tank Row, Stairfoot, Barnsley and discovered the blaze was at a firm which dismantles electrical transformers.

One of the transformers was alight, but they managed to extinguish the flames before they spread and caused any more damage.

Firefighters spent about 90 minutes dealing with the incident.

Police closed off the road to passing traffic until the fire was out.

n The cause of the blaze has been logged as accidental.
