Council to axe service centres

ROTHERHAM Council is launching a public consultation on plans to close two customer service centres and provide ‘drop-in’ sessions for two days a week as an alternative.

The authority’s cabinet agreed changes in location of both the Swinton and Dinnington centres would save money.

A council spokeswoman said: “In an effort to reduce costs, the council is considering making the services available on a drop in basis for two days a week.

“In Dinnington, this would be at the Resource and Community Centre.

“The Swinton service would be delivered from the library next door.”

The public can comment at both customer service centres and online at www.rotherham.gov.uk/consultation from Monday, February 4.
