Conisbrough man hurt in street attack

A YOUNG man suffered serious injuries to his face in a mystery late-night attack in Doncaster town centre.

Police are appealing for information and for witnesses to come forward following the alleged assault on the Conisbrough man in St Sepulchre gate before Christmas.

The incident is believed to have occurred between 2.25am and 2.45am on Sunday, December 16, shortly after the victim had been involved in trying to separate two Alsatian dogs which were fighting outside a bar on St George Gate.

Afterwards the man has then walked along Baxtergate towards Clock Corner, crossed over onto High Street and then onto St Sepulchre Gate.

“He has then approached a man and woman walking past and at this point it is believed the man has punched the young man, causing him to fall to the ground.

“As a result of the incident the 21-year-old man sustained serious facial injuries,” said a police spokesman.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and believes they may have seen the victim or may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

The victim is described as 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark suit, a pink shirt and a blue tie.

Anyone with any information about this incident or who believes they may have witnessed it is urged to contact police on 101 quoting crime number A/118610/12 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
