Police have arrested five men in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a newsagents shop on Micklebring Grove in Conisbrough on Wednesday evening.

All five, aged between 14 and 48-years-old, are currently in custody being questioned by officers.

The arrests were made last night in the Thrybergh area of Rotherham.

The police hunt was launched after two masked men, one armed with a handgun, fled from the shop when one of the owners pressed an audible panic alarm.
