A Good Neighbour scheme in Sheffield run by the Royal Voluntary Service - previously the WRVS - has received a £5,000 boost.
The funding has been donated by Sheffield Mutual as part of a three-year partnership.
The charity’s volunteers help people with everyday tasks, such as shopping or changing a lightbulb, but also provide vital contact and a friendly face for people who without a regular visit are likely to be lonely and isolated.
In the first year of the partnership the charity received more than £7,000 which helped to significantly expand the Good Neighbours service, increasing the number of volunteers.
Tony Burdin, chief executive of Sheffield Mutual, said: “We were delighted to make the donation again.”
