Three members of staff at a nail bar in The Moor Market have been arrested for entering the UK illegally.

Two Vietnamese men, and a Vietnamese woman, were being held last night after a surprise Home Office raid by immigration officers yesterday afternoon.

They were acting on intelligence that business Hollywood Nails was employing people with no right to be in the UK.

It now faces a fine of up to £60,000 unless evidence is provided that pre-employment checks were carried out.

A spokesman said the raid took place with the full co-operation of The Moor Market’s management.

The men, aged 27 and 35, and the woman aged 43, have now been detained pending their removal from the country.

Hollywood Nails will be served with a notice warning that a civil penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker could be imposed.

Home Office Immigration Enforcement deputy director Anita Bailey said: “Employers in South Yorkshire who use illegal labour will be caught and will face financial penalties.

“Illegal working is not victimless. It defrauds the taxpayer, undercuts honest employers, and cheats legitimate job-seekers out of opportunities. We are happy to work with businesses to let them know what checks need to be made, but those who break the law will face the consequences.”
