Clergy and parishioners from across the Diocese of Sheffield are gathering to discuss how to fund missionary work in future years.
The discussion will take place at the Philadelphia Centre, Upperthorpe, on Saturday, January 26, between 9.30am and 12.30pm.
Archdeacon of Sheffield and Rotherham Martyn Snow said: “Traditionally the way we have funded mission and ministry is through parish share – that is a principle of mutual support, every parish contributing but the better-off parishes contributing to support the less well-off.
“With financial pressures, we are aware now that system is placing heavy demands on parishes so Bishop Steven Croft has asked for a full scale review and this is the start.
“We hope it will be a constructive discussion and that a clear way forward will emerge.”
