Cast iron garden urn stolen from Rotherham

An expensive cast iron garden urn has been stolen from a Rotherham village.

The 19th century garden furniture was taken from outside a house in Slade Hooton overnight between 11pm on Friday, August 1 and 5.15am on Saturday, August 2.

It is just over one metre tall and around the same diameter. Its owners told police that transport would have been needed to move it.

Officers investigating the theft want to speak to anyone who knows who was responsible.

They are urging antique dealers and scrap merchants who may have been offered the item to contact them.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 290 of August 2, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
