Car stolen by bogus buyer

POLICE are investigating the theft of a car from a salesman during a test drive.

The black Vauxhall Insignia was stolen from a salesman who met a man posing as a potential buyer at an address in Todwick.

The man took the car for a test drive, and stopped to have a look under the bonnet, but then sped away in the vehicle.

A similar theft took place in Greno Woods earlier this month - but DCI Chris Singleton, of South Yorkshire Police, said the Todwick incident is not being connected with any other offences.

“Those in the car trade need to be aware this has happened and to be more vigilant,” he added.

Call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
