Car crash OAP is getting better

A PENSIONER who suffered multiple broken bones in a car crash on Sheffield’s outer ring road is now in a stable condition in hospital.

The 74-year-old woman was struck by a Skodia Fabia as she crossed the northbound carriageway of Ridgeway Road.

The collision happened 60 metres after the junction with Hollinsend Road, Intake, at around 2pm on Sunday, December 23.

It is believed the Skoda had moved to overtake another vehicle shortly beforehand.

Officers are trying to trace a small red hatchback which was at the scene, as the driver may have been a witness. Call police on 101.

n Firefighters were called to an accidental car fire on the northbound carriageway of the M1 in South Yorkshire in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Two fire engines from Barnsley attended between junctions 37 and 38 at 1.10am.
