Call for rethink on planning law

Liberal Democrat councillors in Sheffield are calling on Prime Minister David Cameron to rethink his proposals for new planning laws.

The proposals set out by Mr Cameron in September, would relax existing rules and allow some extensions without planning permission.

Coun Colin Ross, who represents Dore and Totley, said: “People across the city have expressed their anxiety to me about the proposals, which could remove protection against unsightly and poorly thought-out extensions.

“Thankfully, the Government is consulting and I hope that they listen to the strong views of the people in Sheffield.”
