Beekeepers from across Sheffield showcased their honey at their annual show.

Sheffield Beekeepers Association held its honey show at Sheffield Fayre, Norfolk Heritage Park.

There were 116 entries in 27 different classes with several types of honey on show and categories for mead, honey cake and beeswax.

The prize for Best in Show went to Phil Khorassandjian, who scooped five first, five second and three third place prizes.

Best Honey winner was Tony Lane, who has been keeping bees in his garden in Crosspool for three years.

Jim Horsfall, who won the Creamed Honey class, said: “It’s great to see your honey on the show bench and to win, but it is the bees that do all the hard work.

“As a beekeeper you are just there to make sure the bees are happy, and in return you can take a share of their honey.”
