Breaking news: Girl, 13, arrested as police probe murder near Doncaster

Police incident at Everton

Police incident at Everton

A GIRL aged 13 is among three people arrested by police carrying out an investigation into a murder near Doncaster.

Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed they have launched a murder probe following the discovery of the body of a man at farmland in Everton, two miles from Bawtry.

The body was discovered in Middle Cross Lane, between Harwell Sluice Lane and Everton Lane, after a member of the public notified police on Saturday February 2

A cordon remains in place as forensic examinations are ongoing. Enquiries are underway to identify the victim and trace a next of kin. A post-mortem examination has been carried out and at this stage the cause of death is inconclusive.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident. A 47-year-old woman, three men aged 31, 27 and 21, and a 13-year-old girl remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Cox, who is leading the investigation, said: “Although we have made five arrests detectives are continuing to make enquiries in the area. We are keen to speak to anyone who might have seen something unusual in the area, particularly between Friday February 1 and the afternoon of Saturday February 2.

“If you have any information you believe to be of relevance please contact the incident room on 101 extension 817 1520 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
