A teenage boy was shot twice in the face with a ball bearing gun by a yob driving past in a car.
Police say the pellet missed he 16-year-old’s eye by just half an inch.
The boy, from Bramley, Rotherham, was walking down Warren Road in Wickersley at around 4.45pm on Sunday, June 15, when the BB gun was fired at him from a passing car, which was heading towards Northfield Lane.
PC Sean Dawson said: “The teenager was shot twice and one of the pellets has caused a nasty cut about two centimetres from his right eye.
“There is a very real chance that if the ball bearing had hit him just half an inch away from where it did, he would have lost the sight in his eye.
“The only description we have of the car was that it was a small black one.
“I would urge anybody who knows anything about this incident to please call South Yorkshire Police, as we need to find those responsible for this mindless and motiveless assault.”
Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since the attack took place, and now police are appealing to members of the public for their assistance.
