Scene in Page Hall - August 19 2014

A 16-year-old boy was injured during an altercation in Page Hall, Sheffield, last night.

The teenager suffered minor puncture marks during the incident in Lindley Road, leading to Cammell Road, at around 6.50pm.

The injuries were not life-threatening and he was taken to hospital for treatment. No one has yet been arrested in connection with the assault.

Ahmed Haris, owner of Azade Mini Market, said: “I have heard there was a fight with a knife between Slovakian and Asian groups and someone was stabbed on the corner [of Bolsover Road]. The police came. While police were here there was a fight between two girls. They went into the barber shop and started fighting in there.

“Shouting and they tried to attack each other. Police used pepper spray on one of them and took someone away.

“The fight was unrelated to the stabbing. I have my shop here and just try to do business. It has been ages since the last incident.”

Another witness, who did not wish to be named, said: “Someone was stabbed and a load of people were running away down the road after.”

A police statement said: “There were reports of people in the street following the incident and one man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

“All crowds have now dispersed but police will remain in the area for the time being for reassurance.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
