Bins targeted in Doncaster arson attacks

FIRE crews were called to a spate of deliberate rubbish fires across Doncaster, including one behind a recently shut store.

Adwick crews were called to the York Road trading estate around dawn yesterday where a skip at the rear of the unoccupied Comet electrical store had been set on fire.

The store was part of the chain which shut down just before Christmas when a buyer could not be found.

Wheelie bins were also set alight outside houses in Rosedale Road, Bentley, on Thursday evening around 6.30pm, and Hill Top Road at Denaby at 1.50am yesterday.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said both had been started deliberately.

A pile of rubbish in Balby Road, Doncaster, was also ignited on Thursday evening.
