FOOTBALL fans were really up for the cup when one of the beautiful game’s most treasured possessions paid a visit to Doncaster.

The glittering Barclays Premiership Trophy was brought to town by Sky Sports presenter and former football ace Chris Kamara.

Scores of supporters of all ages lined up to have their photo taken with the silverware during its two hour visit to the town’s High Street branch of Barclays.

Chris, famed for his catchphrase ‘Unbelievable, Jeff!’ to fellow presenter Jeff Stelling on Sky’s Soccer Saturday programme, was back in Doncaster six months after he carried the Olympic flame on part of its tour through the town in June.

Heavy security surrounded the trophy’s arrival with guards on hand at all times to keep an eye on the prize, still bedecked with the light blue ribbons of last year’s Premiership winners Manchester City and famously hoisted aloft by skipper Vincent Kompany after the club’s dramatic last gasp win on the final day of the season when Sergio Aguero netted in injury time.
