Armed robbery in Sheffield

Police were called to a shop on Whitham Road, Sheffield on Friday, following the report of an armed robbery.

The robbery took place just before 8.40pm when a man walked into the BetFred store and is believed to have been carrying a gun.

He is then alleged to have made threats to staff and approximately £500 was stolen.

The man is reported to have left the scene on a scooter with another man.

No one was injured during the incident and no shots were fired.

Mark Pearson, spokesman for BetFred, told The Star: “Obviously we take this matter very seriously, the safety of our staff and customers is paramount to us and we will be cooperating with the police in their investigation.”
