A NUISANCE neighbour who repeatedly breached his anti-social behaviour injunction has been handed a second jail sentence.
Philip Proverbs, aged 38, lived with his mother at her home on Hucklow Road, Firth Park, in a block of flats reserved for over-40s.
Sheffield County Court heard almost immediately after moving in he was noisy and used offensive language.
Proverbs was abusive and threatening to neighbours and Sheffield Homes housing officers, the court was told.
On July 19 last year, he threatened a neighbour and her daughter and was charged with a public order offence.
He was given a supervision order and 60 hours of unpaid work and a restraining order.
In September, Sheffield Council was granted an anti-social behaviour injunction against Proverbs, backed by power of arrest.
Just two months later, he was jailed for 12 weeks at county court for trying to visit his mother’s address in breach of the injunction.
After his release, he returned to the flat on January 14 and was arrested again.
Proverbs admitted breaching the order by being outside the property.
He also admitted four further breaches from October last year, of being in the excluded area around his mother’s address.
Judge Graham Robinson sentenced him to 12 weeks in prison.
He warned Proverbs if he continued to breach the injunction on his release then the sentences would increase.
Coun Harry Harpham, Sheffield Council cabinet member for housing, said: “This sends out a clear message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and all proven breaches of tenancy agreements and court orders will be enforced.
“We take our responsibilities in this area very seriously and we aim to ensure all our tenants feel secure in their homes.”
