INMATES and staff at a Doncaster prison have lifted 2,000 tonnes for a children’s charity.

A team of 20 at HMP Doncaster each lifted enough weights to raise thousands for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Prison PE teacher Brian Long said: “We’ve raised over £1,000 already and we are hoping that will be matched by management and we’ve got more money still coming in so fingers crossed we should get around £3,000.

“Everyone loved taking part. We’ve been overwhelmed by the response we’ve got.”
