Listen to local residents this time

Have your say

I was pleased to be invited by many residents on Wednesday to protest against changes to the 17 bus service and also the 20 and 20A. There really is no doubt that our area is set to lose out as a result of these proposals.

The changes, if agreed, will leave residents in the Thorpe House area almost marooned with a skeleton service of only five buses, daytime only. What’s more residents in Norton Lees and Norton will see their direct link to Woodseats shopping centre removed.

It’s hard to believe that when Labour councillors unveiled their bus partnership last year they claimed that it would lead to a better service for local residents.

It is certainly not the case in my neighbourhood.

I can only hope that the so-called partnership will listen to local residents this time and drop their disastrous proposals.
