Sheffield’s ancient woodlands will be lit up this Saturday when hundreds of people trek through the popular beauty spot of Ecclesall Woods, in support of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
And leading the way will be charity patron and World Champion Heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill, who will invite walkers to join her on the 4.5k route.
Every year, the torch-lit walk - now in its fourth year - gives participants of all ages and abilities the chance to light up the night, as they ramble through the woods in their neon fancy dress outfits, with entertainment and live music along the way.
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity is the only dedicated charity for the hospital and exists to support its world-class cancer research and to improve the treatment and care it offers. Over the years, Light the Night has helped raise over £100,000 which has enabled the funding of various projects including the expansion of research studies and improving the way cancer treatments are delivered.
Charity Fundraiser Sarah Cross said “This is a fantastic way for friends and family to come together in support of one common cause and help raise funds which will ultimately improve the lives of thousands of cancer patients across our region.”
