Life-saving duo praised
TWO Police Community Support Officers in Barnsley have been praised for saving a man's life .
Liam McGrath and Andrew Sharp were cycling through the town centre on patrol when they were stopped on Warren Quarry Lane by a woman asking for help.
She told them her 34-year-old male friend was unconscious in a house in Worsbrough Common.
The two PCSOs found the man and put him into the recovery position and called for an ambulance.
He was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital's intensive care unit and was moved on to a normal ward once his condition stabilised.
Sgt Keith Baird, of Barnsley's Central Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "The work of PCSOs is vital to Safer Neighbourhood Teams.
"The quick thinking and fast response of both officers has probably saved a man's life. Visible police teams are what the public want and need and I am happy that we were in the right place at the right time to assist."
