Treasure hunts, quizzes and displays will showcase the magic of books in Barnsley.
The town council has organised a string of events to celebrate National Libraries Day on Saturday, February 8.
Readers young and old are invited to join the fun in the central library on Shambles Street, which will be transformed into a hive of activity.
Community libraries are also hosting their own events, such as mystery books, to mark the annual day of recognition and showcase all of the resources available under one roof.
Users have been asked to contribute to Why I Love My Library boards in the build-up to the day. Bookworms are also being encouraged to introduce friends and family to their local library by taking to Twitter liking the National Libraries Day Facebook page.
Coun Jenny Platts, Barnsley Council’s cabinet spokesperson for adults and communities, said: “Barnsley’s library service offers a wide and varied range of services, activities and events for all users.
“I hope that people will take this opportunity to visit a library to see what’s on offer.”
