POST could be delivered later in the day to addresses in parts of Sheffield as Royal Mail makes changes to its delivery routes.
The S5 postcode area, including Shiregreen, Parson Cross and Wadsley Bridge, is to be affected by alterations at the Sheffield North East Delivery Office.
New delivery methods and routes are being launched as Royal Mail ‘modernises’ its operations because fewer letters and more packages are being posted.
Special trolleys will help postmen and women carry heavy parcels door-to-door.
A spokesman said in the S5 area, Royal Mail will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day.
Many customers will continue to get their mail by lunchtime.
He added: “Letters may be delivered later for some customers but for others it may mean getting them earlier.
“The majority of people will not be affected.”
Letters are to be sent to customers about the changes.
David Noon, manager of the Royal Mail’s Sheffield North East office, said: “We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in the Sheffield North area.
“The local delivery team and I are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect from Royal Mail over many years.”
