I WROTE many years ago to ask Supertram to install seating at the tram stops (EB Warris, May 5). The reply was that it would attract undesirables in off-peak times and trams were frequent enough meaning passengers would not have to wait too long anyway.
At some stops we see persons (old and young) sitting on the platforms’ stone edges which is dangerous and it isn’t pleasant to stand around when alone at some of the more isolated stops. Anyone loaded with shopping will tell you that they would be very grateful to sit down at the stop even for a few minutes.
If it can be done in bus stops, why not in tram stops? How many other passengers feel this way?
