Leigh Walsh, a sales and production administrator at Steel City Marketing, is a self-confessed tea addict, downing over 15 cups a day.

And everytime he heads for the kettle, he makes a cup for each of his eight workmates. The company has now paid tribute to Leigh’s contribution to office morale by awarding him a Tea Champion medal.

Leigh, 41, of Woodthorpe, said: “I’ve got tea-making down to a fine art. I prefer to make it in the cup, milk first, then sugar and a fresh tea bag for every person which I leave to stew for two minutes until it’s strong enough for the spoon to stand up in it.”

Steel City Marketing had now launched a search for more Tea Champions in the city, hoping to honour others just like Leigh.

Boss James Biggin said: “When we totted up the brews Leigh makes for us every day, it made us realise how important he is to office morale and we reckon other offices and shop-floors have people they would like to reward too.

“We will be sending out Tea Champion medals, mugs and tea-time treats to the best 50 tea-makers we hear about.”

Tea Champions can be nominated by tweet to @steelcitym with #teachampion, or by email to [email protected] before April 17.
