Customers across Sheffield are being urged to sign up for the ‘country’s cheapest energy tariff’ before tomorrow.

Sheffield Council says it has negotiated ‘market leading deals’ with provider E.On after an auction of tariffs, which are only available to people who sign up to the Big Sheffield Summer Switch campaign.

Full tariff details are to be announced after the closing date tomorrow.

Coun Jack Scott, cabinet member for environment, recycling and Streetscene, said: “If you are worried about rising energy costs and the effect big bills may have on your family’s budget then this is a great, simple way of making sure you get signed up to the deal that offers you the best value for money.

“This tariff is a real coup for us and will really help give people peace of mind in a volatile energy market.

“I’m sure customers will be reassured that it has been offered by one of the most recognisable names in the industry.”

Coun Scott added: “This service is completely independent and free to everyone, so we hope to see more people sign up than ever before.”
