Parents in Derbyshire are being reminded that time is running out to apply for their child’s school place.
Families of children born between September 1, 2011 and 31 August, 2012 need to apply to Derbyshire County Council by next Friday January 15 2016.
Deputy cabinet member for children’s services, Coun Caitlin Bisknell, said: “It’s really easy to do online and last year 99.9 per cent of applications were done this way.
“Although we’ve had a good response, there are still around 2,000 applications outstanding so I’d urge anyone who hasn’t applied yet to do it now to give their child the best chance of getting a place.”
“The early years of school are very important in a child’s life.
“We want parents to carefully consider which school they would like their child to go to and get their application in before the deadline to give themselves the best chance of success.”
To apply online visit the school admissions section of the county council’s website at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions
Parents can make changes to their application at any point up to the closing date.
Applications submitted after deadline will not be considered until places have been allocated to those children whose parents returned forms on time.
