Last chance for auction to help troops
STAR readers have just days left to bid in a charity auction to help South Yorkshire troops.
Arctic Monkeys' drummer Matt Helders and Sheffield boxer Ross Burkinshaw have donated autographed memorabilia for the cause.
So far, bids of 125 have been received for each item - drum sticks used by Matt to practise on the band's recent tour, and a set of Ross's gloves.
Serving soldier Ross, a Rifleman with Third Battalion The Rifles, and his former Stocksbridge High School pal Matt want to raise money for Ross's battalion's appeal.
It supports injured troops - and their families - from the battalion which recruits from South Yorkshire and is currently stationed in Sangin, Afghanistan.
Bids must be made by Sunday. Email richard.marsden@thestar.co.uk or write to Richard Marsden, The Star, York Street, Sheffield, S1 1PU.
