Large quantity of cigarettes stolen from car in Wheatley

A 64-year-old man has sustained minor injuries during an alleged theft, when a driver of a white van stole a ‘significant quantity’ of cigarettes from the backseat of his car.

The incident took place in Chappell Drive, Wheatley at around 10am on Thursday, August 21, and Police have now issued CCTV images of a white van they believe may have been involved in the incident.

The 64-year-old man was loading his car with goods and placed a significant quantity of cigarettes on the back seat.

It is reported that a white panel van drove up to the man’s car and one of the van’s occupants allegedly grabbed the cigarettes from the back seat.

The man sustained minor injuries after reportedly attempting to stop the white van from leaving the scene.

The driver of the vehicle is described as being an Asian man.

The occupant who is alleged to have taken the goods was around 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build and wearing a grey hooded top.
