YOUNG apprentices have raised more than £1,000 with an arduous challenge for a cancer charity.
The 16 to 18-year-olds completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge as part of the 2012 Master Cutler’s Challenge.
All the apprentices were from Morrison, based in Rotherham, and at the company’s Yorkshire Academy. They completed the challenge in 11 hours and 40 minutes, raising £1,100.
This year’s Master Cutler’s challenge is raising funds for Cavendish Cancer Care, which provides support to people affected by cancer in Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
Dave Whelan, who manages the apprentice programme, said: “The lads all did really well to complete the peaks within the target time of 12 hours despite poor weather conditions, and were delighted to have raised over £1,100 to support the battle against cancer.”
