Ladies day looking good for charity by raising record amount - PICTURES
THEY looked a million dollars - and helped raise quite a few quid for a very worthy cause too!
Ladies' Day at Owlerton Stadium is being hailed the most successful in the event's nine-year history after organisers said this year looks set to have raised a record amount for charity.
Greyhound racing's answer to Royal Ascot saw fashion-conscious females wow a panel of celebrity hat competition judges at the annual fundraiser in aid of St Luke's Hospice.
Owlerton Stadium's Panorama Room, restaurant and corporate boxes were a complete sell-out, with audiences dancing until after midnight in The Sportsman Tavern.
John Gilburn, managing director of Owlerton Stadium, said: "I have to thank everyone involved for making this such a fabulous event.
"The ladies looked absolutely stunning and we look on target to reach our fundraising target which, in the present economic climate, is fantastic."
The celebrity hat judges were The Twins - singing sisters Francine and Nicola Gleadall from Dronfield who were runners-up in the BBC search for a British Eurovision entry - along with Galaxy DJ Sasha and The Star women's editor Jo Davison.
Together they chose Dawn Thompson from Wadsley Lane, Hillsborough, as the winner of the hat competition.
