Labour wins Sheffield by-election

Labour retained a seat on Sheffield Council in a by-election called following the resignation of the deputy leader.

Leigh Bramall, who represented Southey, resigned in March and has now been replaced by Mike Chaplin, who secured 1,594 votes.

Philip Brown for the Lib Dems got 706 votes followed by Dave Ogle for UKIP, who got 593 votes.

Jason Southcott for the Conservative Party got 388 votes, Andrew Hards for the Green Party secured 97 votes, Jim Warrender for the Yorkshire Party got 46 votes and

Carol Keen for the Women's Equality Party got 40 votes.
