Knifepoint robbery at jewellery store

A SHOP assistant was held up at knifepoint in a raid at a Sheffield jewellery store.

Two men posing as customers produced a knife and forced him to the floor at the shop in Attercliffe Road.

The robbers took jewellery and ran off alongside the River Don towards Bold Street. They were both Asian, aged about 20, slim, about 5ft 10.

One was wearing black gloves and the other was carrying a black rucksack.

Detectives want to hear from anyone who was in the area at midday on Monday July 19.

A Police spokeswoman said: "The two men ran through the cemetery on Attercliffe Road, alongside the River Don towards Bold Street.

"The shop assistant sustained minor injuries and was left very shaken by his ordeal."

To pass on information about the jewel raid call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020, quoting incident number 465 of July 19.
