A SCULPTURE crafted from the by-product of knife grinding is the star attraction in a new Sheffield exhibition.
It will take centre stage as part of the display called Repository – Bespoke cutting edge Sheffield.
The art has been made from swarf, the by-product of knife grinding, and depicts Brian Alcock.
Brian is Sheffield’s last professional knife grinder and Museums Sheffield said “his retirement may mean the end of more than 600 years of grinding in the city”.
Sheffield sculptor Anthony Bennett has created the sculpture as part of a series to illustrate the plight of the grinder.
His work will be on show at the Millennium Gallery from February 16 until October 2013.
Entry to the exhibition is free.
