A PSYCHOTIC killer who stabbed a Sheffield dad of two to death - inflicting over 100 wounds on him - has been locked up indefinitely for the protection of the public.

Benjamin Anthony Scott, aged 32, of Batemoor Road, Batemoor, was jailed by a judge at Sheffield Crown Court today for the horrific attack on Gary Beech last July.

Mr Beech, who was described by his family as ‘one in a million’ was found dead at his flat on Batemoor Road, Batemoor, after he spent a night drinking with Scott.

Scott admitted manslaughter on the grounds he was suffering from a personality disorder at the time of the attack.

He also admitted attacking a fellow inmate while on remand in Doncaster Prison and slashing his neck.

Handing Scott an indeterminate jail sentence and ordering him to serve at least 15 years behind bars, Mr Justice Openshaw said: “Many defendants serving such sentences are detained long after their tariffs have expired - some are never released.”
