Kids go compost crazy down on the farm

SCHOOL children went compost crazy when they were taken out of the classroom and down to the farm.

Children from Manor Lodge School visited Whirlow Hall Farm to celebrate the ninth annual 'Compost Awareness Week' aimed at encouraging people to start home composting. Waste awareness assistant Kerri Hasler taught an environmental workshop focused on the 3Rs - 'reduce, reuse, recycle' - and showed the pupils easy ways to recycle.

To help celebrate Compost Awareness Week and the forthcoming World Environment Day, children in Sheffield are being offered the chance to win 2,000 for their school.

The 'Go WILD' competition is open to children aged five to 11 years and the closing date is this Friday.
