SHEFFIELDERS are being urged to ‘Go Purple!’ for World Kidney Day, which takes place on Thursday, March 8.
Kidney Research UK is encouraging city folk to support special events, themed around the charity’s signature colour of purple, to highlight the dangers of kidney disease. Everyone from office workers to schoolchildren is urged to take part.
Emma Collins, Kidney Research UK’s fundraising manager for the area, said: “There’s plenty of time to organise an event. Whether it’s a purple coffee morning or a purple themed raffle at work, it doesn’t matter – as long as you’re letting people know the importance of kidney health.”
There are 7,000 people in the UK waiting for a kidney and only 2,500 transplants carried out each year.
