A POLITICIAN is calling for a clampdown on kerb crawlers who cruise the streets looking for prostitutes.
Rotherham MP Denis MacShane suggested photographs should be taken of kerb crawlers’ cars and their registration numbers published to deter them from using sex workers.
He spoke out in Parliament during a debate to mark the 100th International Women’s Day. He also called for the Government to adopt a European Union directive aimed at combating trafficking and the sexual exploitation of women.
Mr MacShane compared the sex trafficking of women with slavery.
He said: “Taking photographs of kerb crawlers’ cars, publishing their registration numbers and, in some, cases putting them in front of magistrates - that is the only language the abusers of these sex-slave, trafficked women understand.”
