Green-fingered Sheffielders can have a go at an unusual challenge which has been launched by the city’s Whirlow Hall Farm.
The charity is holding a pumpkin-growing competition – and is appealing for competitors to take part.
A spokeswoman for the farm said: “The seeds have been kindly donated by Tozer seeds. Children and adults, amateurs and professionals are being encouraged to join the challenge and bring their pumpkins to the farm for judging later in the year.”
The farm will display the produce at the its Horticultural Show, which takes places at the huge annual Farm Fayre on September 18. Pumpkins will be judged on size and appearance.
