A CHANGE is as good as a rest.

Not that Debbie Bennett will have much time to put her feet up on a four month job swap.

Debbie, a John Lewis recruitment coordinator, has joined Autism Plus on a secondment as a volunteer coordinator based at its adult learning centre, The Coleridge Resource Centre in Darnall.

Autism Plus specialises in working with people with the most complex support needs.

Debbie, who will spend three days a week at the charity, has worked at John Lewis for 10 years. She became familiar with the charity’s work when her son visited centre with Bents Green Special Needs School.

Debbie will be using her recruitment skills and knowledge to support Autism Plus to develop its volunteer policies and procedures and recruit volunteers.

Debbie said: “I’m thrilled John Lewis gave me the opportunity to work with a charity in my specialist field, and I hope my secondment inspires other charities to apply for the scheme.”
