THIS is the face of would-be soldier Ricky Thomson after he was slashed in the face while out jogging.
The 24-year-old has been left with a four-inch wound on his face after the attack which police think may have been carried out with a craft knife, scalpel or razor blade.
He is now concerned it may prevent him getting work in the future.
Ricky, of Broadway, Dunscroft said: “At first I thought I’d been punched in the face but when I got in there was blood everywhere.
“There was so much blood dripping that I couldn’t open my eye and when I washed my face and looked in the mirror there was a four-inch wound starting above my eye and down across my cheek. I was just so shocked.
“They said at the hospital it had definitely been done with a blade as the wound was too neat.
“When I realised I’d been attacked with some sort of blade I did think it could’ve been a lot worse, I could’ve been stabbed or killed.”
Ricky was out running to get in shape in a bid to join the Army, but has not been out running since the incident on Saturday, October 15.
He saw two men jogging towards him. One of the men crossed to the other side of the road but as Ricky passed the other man, he attacked him and then ran off.
Ricky, who works at a Motocross track, says he is worried the incident will affect him for the rest of his life.
Police are appealing for information and have issued a description of the suspected attacker.
He was around 6ft tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a dark hooded top, tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. It is thought he had dark hair a possibly a fringe.
