A well-known South Yorkshire hotel is set to close after operators found ‘no alternative’ for the business.
Ardsley House Hotel, which has 74 bedrooms and is based off Doncaster Road, Barnsley, will shut its doors for good on July 18.
The hotel’s 30 employees will be made redundant, though 20 have found new jobs already, according to parent firm St James’s Hotel Group.
Sean Brookes, group operations director at parent firm St James’s, said: “Having completed a six week consultation with staff and management to look into all of the options for the business, we have, unfortunately, concluded that there is no alternative but to close the hotel.
“The hotel is continuing to lose money and is simply not sustainable as a business going forward.
“The hotel benefitted from a loyal team and we have been doing all we can to help them to find alternative employment”
