SEVENTY new jobs have been created at a new care home in Penistone.
The Buckingham, a purpose built 72-bed home, is run by Crown Care, which is due to open another home in Hoyland next month.
Wendy Conn, Crown Care managing director of healthcare, said: “People will see luxurious surroundings, wide corridors, en-suite in every room and high standard communal areas giving it the feel of a home-from-home hotel.
“But what I am really passionate about is that those people who come to live here or spend some time with us, get the care, attention and lifestyle they deserve. That’s what drives us on.
Counc Andrew Millner, Barnsley Council Conservative member for Penistone West, who has campaigned for a care home in Penistone for the past five years, said: “This is a fantastic, much-needed facility which will be welcomed by the people of Penistone.
“For too long, people needing residential care have had to travel 15 to 20 miles from their home town. This impressive development will make a real difference.
“Residents will move in from today.”
