Thousands of jet ski enthusiasts are expected to splash the cash in Doncaster at two major Lakeside events this summer.

Tourism chiefs are hoping for a major boost from hosting the fourth round of the British Jet Ski Championships, on June 22 and 23. The event will feature numerous races and will include the current UK, European and World Champion James Bushell.

Lakeside will also host the final of the European Jet Ski Champions from August 16 to 18 which will attract more than 100 European teams and around 4,000 spectators.

A council spokesman said hosting the British Jet Ski Championships again is a real coup for Doncaster and is another quality event that ‘puts the town on the tourism map’.

“Teams and visitors will require hotel accommodation locally and this will also increase the supply chains for businesses such as catering and food outlets, retail and entertainment facilities.”
